T.C.R.T.A. 2008 Season information

1.      The TCRTA Invitational match will maintain last season’s format.

2.      The league start date is 1/3. Season schedules are enclosed.

3.      Score sheets should be mailed to me as soon as possible after a match. Addressed envelopes are enclosed. You may also email the scanned results. Competitors who have Internet access can view the weekly scores by going to www.smallbore.org  and following the link to TCRTA. If you want to have the scores emailed to you please email me at rwmorris@roadrunner.com and I’ll arrange it. For those that find it hard to get me at home I check my email daily. We have found that email is the best method of keeping in contact.

4.      I have enclosed the information that I have on the database for last years competitors from your team. To register your team members please update this listing and return it to me. New shooters may be listed separately. I have mailed two copies so teams can keep one for their records. Please use the listing as it makes the job of entry easier … I only have to make changes where you have altered the information rather than check each shooter. The list should be to me by the first match. If you prefer you can send me a list of your shooters by the first match and wait a week or so to mail the full information.

5.     This year the fee schedule has changed. The team fee is $0 but the individual fee is $8.

6.      If you are interested in entering NRA or US Shooting registered matches I update a list of scheduled matches on the web page listed above. If your club wishes to hold a match let me know. I'll include it on the listing. If any club wants to hold a match but needs assistance in getting it set up feel free to contact me. Whitehall has indicated that they will run a NRA 4pos. Sectional match this winter.

7.      Several teams and individuals showed interest in participating in the Vermont postal. When I get the information I will forward it to each team. You can enter the postal as an individual if there is not sufficient interest for a team. It's also a way of keeping shooters, who have had a shift change prevent them from shooting in the league, active in shooting. For teams or individuals without email I will coordinate the emailing of their scores to the postal if they don't wish to do it themselves.

8.      If you have or know of a rifle for sale I’ll make a separate web page modification to list it for our members. Please include details, price and contact.

9.      The Tri County Rifle League is a registered NRA club. This allows members across our participating clubs to enter team competition as a TCRTA team. Our NRA affiliation number is B53585 under Tri County Rifle Team Association. Use my address if you need one.

10.  Our display at the Washington County Fair was well received. We have seen that coverage at the fair is beneficial. Therefore we will be looking for volunteers at the spring meeting.

11.  We may conduct a training seminar in February. Expect more details in Early January

12.   NRA is now requiring open bolt indicators. It was approved at the spring meeting in 2006 that NRA match  safety rules must be enforced by each club. This worked well last season. The exact logistics were approved at the fall meeting are:

·        A Range Officer MUST be appointed and will control the range at all times, especially at the end and beginning of relays. Following the Range Officer’s commands is critical to maintaining safety on the range.

·         Bolts must be open from when the rifle leaves the case until it is back in the case at the end of the match, except when on the firing line between the start of the preparation period and the cease fire command.  Open bolt indicators will be use and the league will provide an initial supply to all clubs.

·        The range will be closed while target changers are down range. Rifles of the finished relay are to be removed from the firing line before anyone goes forward.

·        Rifles of the new relay are not to be placed on the line until (after everyone returns from down range) directed by the Range Officer. (The appropriate command by the Range Officer is that the preparation period has begun or that competitors may setup on the firing line. Sufficient time will be allotted to allow competitors to set up.) Competitors may setup their other equipment as soon as the firing line is cleared by the previous relay.
